The AIE Insitute (AIEI) is a provincial-level institution and a new type of R&D institution jointly supported by the Bureau of Science and Technology of the wireless city, the Management Committee of Guangzhou High-tech Industrial Development Zone and SCUT. The Institute mainly focuses on the application-oriented translational research of aggregation-induced luminescence technology (2017 National Natural Science Award First Prize) in the fields of life and health, environmental protection, public safety and energy utilization, to build an AIE innovative frontier scientific translational center and engineering technology platform to promote regional industrial upgrading and integration of university industry, research and application.
At present, the institute is based on materials science research and radiates its outward in the fields of energy, environment and health, building six R&D centers and public instrument testing platforms in in vitro diagnosis, photoelectric conversion, scientific research consumables, public security, functional microspheres and functional materials. In public security, the preparation of police fingerprint powder and efficient latent blood color development reagent has served the front-line criminal investigation of public security and solved many cases. The fluorescent "hard spheres" prepared by using aggregation-induced luminescence materials with high luminescence efficiency in the aggregated state have shown high sensitivity in signal output, and as a key raw material for immunofluorescence technology, can achieve the replacement of imported high-end products of the same type in the market.
